Out and About in Singapore

Last year, before I left for Melbourne, I went to Sentosa. This year? I rested at home.

This is my last day in Singapore before I leave for Perth. It's been a great summer, and I'll be starting a new course and a pretty interesting (hopefully!) year in Perth. Not sure how things will turn out, but I do miss Melbourne - after all, I've lived there for 3 years! Of course, I'll be missing Singapore - my home.

Before I leave, I've compiled some of the pictures I took when exploring the city by foot.

First of all - the Cartier Time Art exhibition. It was AMAZING! The gorgeous watches, timepieces and so on, the sophisticated watch-making procedures, the costly designs etc...it was just exceptional. I'm glad I went!

I also walked around the Merlion and Fullerton area. Found a way to walk from the Merlion to the Promenade on the other side of Marina Bay too! Took pictures of both the big and the mini-Merlions, and explored the Promenade a little.

Not too far away from the Promenade was an interactive exhibition of the Singapore CBD, or rather, the Marina Bay area. Had fun taking pictures of the exhibition of course! This was pretty similar to an exhibition I went to in Tanjong Pagar last July, but this was more recent and more high-tech.

Some of the icons included the Art-Science Museum, Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer, and the upcoming Gardens by the Bay, which I intend to visit when I next come back. Oh yes, and the Esplanade!

I then headed to the Art-Science museum for the amazing Cartier time art exhibition.

And of course, went to the Rain Oculus, aka the Swirling Vortex of Terror for the umpteenth time that holiday. The oculus was at full force when I went....and then started losing steam and finally reduced to a trickle. The sunlight was shining through the glass though, and it gave really good lighting effects!

After that I went back for a shower, then headed out again, this time to Orchard Central. And tried a "bokeh" for the first time. Read more about it here.

A while ago, I also went for the Jade Buddha for Universal Peace exhibition. The Jade Buddha was a massive sculpture made from extremely high quality jade, and the off-cuts were used to make pendants for others. One of my friends - Damo - actually has one of the pendants, and he was really excited when he learnt that I went to see the Jade Buddha. Eventually the Jade Buddha will end up in Bendigo, Australia, and we're pretty stoked! Hopefully I'll be back in Melbourne by then, and I can go see it again!

Whenever I look at the Jade Buddha, I feel lots of positive energy radiating from it.

Lots of people went to see the Jade Buddha too, and these included a large group of children from kindergarten.

There were also many free books for us, and I took one on wisdom energy. And of course, there were other features, like deities and altars for prayer.

And here's the banner advertising the Jade Buddha, right outside Takashimaya.

So that's about it for now! I'll post pictures from other events/phototaking sessions soon!

Till then, goodbye for now, Singapore! And I will be back!
