Chinese New Year's around the corner and there's a festive, lively atmosphere in the air. It's the year of the rabbit, and there're lots of rabbit-themed decorations all over the city, including rabbit floats parked in front of the YOG park, and rabbits made of flowers in Orchard Road (which are shown later in this post)...

And of course, lots of spring cleaning has been taking place.

Anyway today's post features the YOG (Youth Olympic Games) Park and the Helix - a bridge shaped like DNA.

We'll start off with the DNA bridge, as it was the first place I visited when I reached this area.

People were mostly walking towards Marina Bay Sands, and of course, taking lots of pictures. Initially there were only a few visitors, but as time passed, the number of visitors increased slowly. Eventually I had to leave and make my way towards the YOG park.

Oh yes, and the DNA bridge is studded with these - depicting the 4 nucleotides: adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G) and cytosine (C). According to one of the tourists, these illuminate the entire bridge at night.

Lots of activities were going on in the river though, such as dragon-boating.

And here's the bridge from one of the viewing platforms.

Viewing platforms where people stood and took pictures.

Oh yes, and more views of the bridge.

The next place I visited was the YOG Park. Singapore hosted the first Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2010, and the park was created to commemorate this occasion. It's mostly sports-themed, with a youthful twist.

There were 3 different sculptures in the park - a weightlifter, a basketball player and a sprinter. And here's the basketball player:

There were also a number of flowers decorating the park, making it look even more lively.

And yes, the YOG mascots Leo (left) and Merle were featured.

A main wall that displayed many pictures taken during the actual YOG.

And on the other side of the same wall, artworks by school students.

There were also a number of concrete stools with Olympic signs, around the park.

And here's the main park with Marina Bay Sands and the DNA bridge in the background. These places are actually really close together.

Wide-angled view of the DNA bridge and Marina Bay Sands.

And heading back to Orchard Road, I spotted lots of Chinese New Year bunnies on display! I love bunnies - they're just so adorable and fluffy! Of course these ones aren't! But they still have that adorable factor in them.

These were taken around Ion Orchard...

And further down the road, near Mandarin Hotel, there're bunnies made of flowers! The flowers come in yellow, orange, pink and so on, and are maintained quite regularly.

And of course, here are the gorgeous bunnies.

And I guess that sums up the trip to YOG Park and DNA Bridge!
