Wildflower Festival Part 1

I think I'm gonna have 2 or 3 posts for the Wildflower Festival series.  The Kings Park Wildflower Festival officially commenced in early spring, and I've been going over to Kings Park almost every week.  In fact I intend to go there again tomorrow, before things get busy during the mid-sem break.  Yep - mid-sem break isn't much of a mid-sem break this time round.  Thesis season has officially kick-started.

Spring weather's kinda unpredictable and reminds me of Melbourne.  For the past 2 weekends the temperatures actually reached about 29 degrees, and skies were clear.  And I had a nice time capturing the sunset again, while cruising down the Kwinana Freeway after one of my trips to Kings Park.  My friend and I were driving past the same spot the other day, and we were imagining how expensive the houses along the river were.

Was walking down St Georges Terrace (part of the Perth CBD) last weekend and spotted this.  There were quite a number of these tiles commemorating different people.  I chanced upon this...because of the keyword: PIANIST.  I'm somehow primed to look out for words like "music", "piano", "pianist"...all thanks to my current research and music background.  Oh and Eileen Joyce is an amazing pianist - in terms of style, technique...everything.  She even had favourite piano concertos: Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.2 (C minor), Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1 (B flat minor) and Grieg's Piano Concerto (A minor).

Anyway let's kickstart the Wildflower Festival series!

Flowers were in full bloom now, after a few days of heavy rain.  The flowerbeds I went to mostly featured Australian wildflowers.  I missed out on the Tesselaar Tulip Festival in Silvan (Victoria) - on the other side of the continent.  But never mind!  There's still this wildflower festival!  And I don't have to travel too far to get to this festival.  I remembered having to travel for more than one hour to get to the tulip farm.

Most of the flowerbeds had a mixture of different flowers...and they usually grew in small groups here and there.

These flowers were one of my favourite ones.  In fact there were seas and seas of them.  They were mostly white or light pink, although there were some darker pink shades.  Pink - one of my favourite colours!

And I've got a good friend who loves yellow...so there!

A few purplish flowers here and there, alongside the yellow flowers.

And a few more pics of the gorgeous yellow ones.  I had to make sure they weren't too over-exposed or under-exposed.  At the same time I wanted to bring out the yellow colour as much as possible.

Individual pink/white flowers.  I should say this species form the main attraction of the wildflower festival.  These were in large abundance!  And besides, they are pretty, so yep, they deserve lots of attention :D

Went shutter-crazy and took lots and lots of pictures of these flowers.

I found the smaller flowers pretty adorable too!

Yellow flower amongst a crowd of white flowers.

Ended up with a few more pics before heading to the bus stop.

Flowers galore!  Lots of big ones, small ones, colourful ones...just flowers everywhere!  Glad I took a couple of weekends off to take pictures of them!

That's it for part 1, do stay tuned for part 2 (and possibly part 3)!
