GPO, Union Lane and City Sights

My my...it really has been a while. Well, I was pretty much up till 2 to 3am doing assignments, for the past 2 weeks. Guess it's time to unwind and relax, and of course upload pictures!

This was yet another Sunday where we got tired of college brunch and decided to head down to the city. We didn't go to GPO (General Post Office) for lunch though - we went to this place called Teppensan, which was about 10 minutes away from the GPO, and the food was so affordable and delicious!

Anyways here're some remaining pictures of the GPO on the way to Teppensan!

Surprisingly it was quiet that day (although it was a Sunday!), but there were people just chilling on the steps of GPO...

One of the many corridors of the GPO. There was a small cafe near where I was standing.

Small florist just on the steps of GPO - they sell adorable cacti :)

We had to walk around quite a fair bit to allow our massive lunch to digest, so we decided to make an impromptu trip around the city.

Horse-drawn carriages are a common sight, and are popular especially amongst tourists.

Giant chess set on the pavement. There was actually a game going on when we went there.

Fruit stall just opposite the Melbourne Town Hall.

Melbourne Town Hall itself! With banners of the Comedy Festival.

And the lift lobby of one of the buildings opposite the town hall.

We then walked through Union Lane, or should I say Graffiti Lane? Union Lane was just so colourful - drawings after drawings were plastered all over the walls in a coherent and organised manner (jeez I'm starting to use some of the words from my lab report!), and there were even instances of overlapping graffiti!

Russian dolls...looking rather sinister though...but creative.

And this was probably one of the better drawings we saw.

People walking through the lane...

And some others checking out the graffiti...ok, honestly that's my buddy in the picture. :P

More graffiti towards the other end of the lane.

And we decided to de-tour and ended up back where we started!

We also ventured into one of the shopping arcades near Union Lane, while attempting to look for Haigh's chocolates - I was looking for chocolates actually, but eventually I didn't manage to find it. I did manage to get some later on though.

And yeah, that concludes our second bail-out from college brunch! Oh and side note: the following week, we just had to eat college brunch, as we were pretty much broke by then.
