This is pretty much what I have been doing so far - reading countless papers and attempting to crank out a draft report for one of my assignments. Well - I am kinda succeeding...but was stuck for quite some time. At the same time, I also downloaded a number of classic movies, and am enjoying them thoroughly. One of them - "A New Kind of Love" (1963) is just so funny! Can't help laughing at the characters' silliness and wicked sense of humour in the movie!
Weather was really really gorgeous over the weekend. Check out the blue skies! Here I am - on the Cappuccino Strip, after having an awesome lunch and free hot choc at the chocolate lounge!
Oh and here's my lunch! Sourdough bread with scrambled eggs, mushroom and salad. Yummy!
Spotted an artist updating his mural using whiteout...while walking to the Fishing Boat Harbour.
Caught a glimpse of the reflection of the Esplanade Hotel in the Fremantle Trades Hall window...
Ended up walking through the Esplanade reserve. People were basically relaxing and enjoying the gorgeous weather...it's been a while since we've seen such lovely skies!
Some people were also going up the Ferris wheel on the reserve...this time I didn't go on it though.
Went on board a replica of the Dutch Ship Dufyken...and it was such an amazing tour! Although it was short, it was fun exploring the inner part of the ship. I should also say that it's good to be short when on board ships - the ceiling is pretty low!
Explored the Fishing Boat Harbour a little more before going to the beach. Here I am - outside one of the restaurants. I believe that this is The Mussel Shack.
Memorial at the Fishing Boat Harbour - near the sculptures. A popular spot for people to take pics!
Sculptures of fishermen around the Fishing Boat Harbour...from different angles of course! People were busy taking pics of the sculptures...including me.
Cicerello's Landing - where the famous Cicerello's restaurant is situated. Very crowded that day! Looks like everyone was enjoying the awesome weather!
Walked to the beach after that - it was really near the fishing boat harbour! Hung around the remains of the historic Long Jetty - which was demolished in 1920. The Long Jetty was initially used to transport cargo from the open sea to the beach, and was used widely until the present harbour was established. Anyway - some stumps and a tiny portion of the jetty remains. It's now a popular spot for people to relax and hang out.
One of the kids at the beach climbed up the stumps...and ended up in one of my pictures!
Woohoo! Bather's beach! Tide was low that day so I could walk across the beach to the other side. When the tide is high, I usually have to climb up to the boardwalk in order to get to the other side. This time, I enjoyed a stroll along the shores, and occasionally got splashed by waves.
No photoshop here I swear! It's just my telephoto lens! I was actually planning to go to South Mole that day, but decided not to in the end.
Seagulls! Someone was throwing bread around and the seagulls were fighting over it...Reminds me of the seagulls in Finding Nemo. "Mine mine mine mine mine...!!!!!!" (when they were in the fishing boat harbour).
This really brightened my day! Freudian slippers - not a good gift for parents! Anyway these were sold at Notre Dame University, if I'm not mistaken. I should really get a pair for myself!
Went back after walking around Freo for a bit...but I came back again - as I decided to engage in self-care after a gruelling week at uni! So I went to the beach to watch the sunset. I like how the whole sky just lights up in a brilliant orange when the sun sets. And every sunset I see has been pretty much different - all of them are gorgeous in their own ways.
Taken just as the sun disappeared into the horizon. I could literally see this giant ball of fire going lower and lower...and finally disappearing altogether...for now.
For some reason, after sunset, the waves get stronger. Or maybe it's my perception...
Another thing I enjoy after sunset - taking pics of the waves - using long exposure. I like the soft lighting and the texture. I should try this on waterfalls someday - I think it'd be pretty amazing.
I'd usually climb up this rock wall at the beach and take pics of these waves. Been there quite a few times already, and I'm still trying my luck with long-exposure pics of waves. It's been quite fun! Apart from the fact that I don't have a tripod...and I've to be very, very steady.
Late sunset - skies were gradually getting darker, and by then I had managed to climb down from the rocks. I was wearing boots that day, so I didn't want to go near the waves......
There was also a group of photographers (I think they were having a photography class or something!) at the beach, so I took a couple of pics of their silhouettes.
And then I called it a day by going for some more hot choc :)
Will post pics of the Duyfken soon! Do stay tuned!
