I've been a hermit for about 2 weeks already, and have not been on any photo-taking trips - no thanks to exams. So far the only places I've been are uni, my apartment, Freo (for dinner and meals), Myaree (to get supplies of food), Cannington (for potluck) and IKEA (for meatballs!)...but no major photo-taking trip so far. Gosh exam season is starting to take its toll on me, and I feel extremely wasted now, from studying long hours and preparing notes so that I know my material at my fingertips! Anyway here I am, taking a break from the intense studying and also taking my buddy's advice to wind down before the exam - for there is no point in cramming. I'm so glad I've been consistent throughout the semester and during study week. 90% of my notes are done!
Anyway here's what I've been up to.
Random shenanigan 1: Manicure night.
I went to my friend's place for potluck and discovered her massive collection of nail polish. So - I did my very first attempt at nail art on myself...and did one on her! As a muso - well I decided to do something that was seriously music inspired, so here we go, music notes on nails! Unfortunately it didn't last, no thanks to my rough mannerisms...but I'd like to recreate this design again someday...or maybe come up with another design. I'm quite a tomboy, so this was one of the rare times I decided to doll up a little.
Random Shenanigan 2: celebrated my birthday at La Porchetta and then dessert at Theobroma Chocolate lounge. Decided to try their warmer and seriously it worked! They actually had a small candle to warm the hot chocolate up. It was really effective, and I think it's quite a splendid idea.
Random shenanigan 3: went to IKEA to enjoy their famous meatballs. My friends were like, "What? IKEA for meatballs?!" and I was like... "Ermmm...yeaaahhh...". True enough, their meatballs were beautiful. Meaty, delicious...and I drank the sauce! :D Anyway I bought a little plushie and some chocolate as souvenirs!
Random shenanigan 4:
Exam "preparation". I'm actually a visual person, and love to use diagrams/comics to help me study. These 2 are on therapeutic alliance - something I've been studying about for about half a semester (as part of a person-centred approach to therapy). The top picture came from my exam notes, while the bottom one was an original creation. Subtle differences in the comic, but the content's generally the same.
Pendant on the right - was from the Perth Royal Show! :) I bought this alongside a bracelet watch. The pendant on the left? Well it's what I always wear.
Random shenanigan 5: Clouds.
Just as I was walking out to uni one fine day, I saw this dramatic cirrus formation. So out came the mobile phone camera! For some reason the weather's been so bipolar lately. It rained like mad during one of the weekends, and then it became so nice and sunny. And guess what? I had to stay INDOORS AND STUDY during the good weather. No thanks to exams!!! FAIL...
Random shenanigan 6: I've always wanted to walk back from Murdoch station to my place...but didn't have the chance to in winter, as it got dark really early. So when late spring approached, I decided to try it out.
Started off at Murdoch Station and walked down South Street...
And then walked past some farmland - specially for horses and the vet clinics. Murdoch Uni is famous for their vet course - one of the best in Australia. I've seen vet students in their lab coats roaming around campus. The horses were docile and enjoyed grazing under the late afternoon sun.
At this point I was kind of irritated by the pesky flies that were buzzing around me. It was quite a warm day...and oh, I also got swooped by a magpie! I thought breeding season was over! But the damn birdbrain decided to try its luck! I ended up sprinting down the road again...
And ended up at the Chiropractic Clinic and in campus. I think the magpie gave up chasing me as it rammed into one of the taller trees. Seriously...I'd better be more careful. I really loathe magpies now, but my biggest hatred? Portuguese millipedes. On a scale of 10 (1 being the least gross and 10 being the most gross), Portuguese millipedes rank 11. Off the charts!!!! I'd never want to see a Portuguese millipede again...for the rest of this year, next year...the year after...arrrggghhh...forever!!
Random shenanigan 7: Trinity Church - near London Court along St Georges Terrace. They usually have meaningful quotes, and so far I've gotten 2 of them. Hope to see more along the way!
Random shenanigan 8:
Cinema Paradiso - at Northbridge. The name "Cinema Paradiso" is actually linked to my favourite Italian movie of the same name. When I saw it I just HAD to get a picture of it!
Anyway the actual movie is a really beautiful one about film projections, and growing up in a small Italian village. It's really, really touching and Maestro Ennio Morricone really did a great job with the music! His music was touching, intimate and really tugged at heartstrings. Most of the pieces were written in B-flat major or G minor. Either way, the key doesn't really matter, but the music seriously suited the storyline perfectly! "Cinema Paradiso" is definitely a must-watch! I actually bought the soundtrack in 2010 (before I bought the movie)...but fell in love with the music straightaway. Watching the movie put everything into context.
Random shenanigan 9: And here's the Burswood complex! Went there for Japanese fine-dining and actually stepped into the casino - or rather, stepped into a casino for the very first time in my life. I actually went there with HF after our trip to Hillarys Boat Harbour. Anyway it was a big eye-opener, but I don't think I'll want to go to a casino again. Too chaotic! And casinos/crowded places don't suit me anyway.
OK this was meant to be some kind of filler post - something that summarises what I've been up to on a more personal level.
Will be back with a more proper post! :D Meanwhile, back to studying. 2 MORE DAYS TO LIBERATION!
