Fremantle Street Arts Festival Part 2

Here's where I left off in the previous post - with more from Day 1 of Fremantle Street Arts Festival.

Featured Performer #4: Une Femme Exposee

This was supposedly a comedy performance by Abi Collins, and she portrayed a confused woman from the Chernobyl era, with a very strong accent and a "not-so-good" looking face.  She was really funny!  And even made some volunteers come on stage with her during her dance routine!

She was setting up the stage, and the amplifier suddenly made a shrill sound, which made her give this expression:

The show started off with her dressed in heavy clothing, fake teeth and attempting to flirt with guys.  Well...sort of.  She did smack some of them for not "paying attention to her"...

And she was attempting to make the crowd make silly expressions like "OH NO!" and "OOH LA LA" whenever she said something.  More often than not, she made the crowd say "OH NO!" at the most inappropriate situations.

The next part of her routine - her speciality - performing!  Acrobatic stunts, hula-hoops and so on.  And attempting to dance while wearing cone shoes.

That was the part where she started getting guys onto stage...not just with a kiss, but by making them do silly stuff like wearing underwear over their shorts.

As usual she ended off with asking for donations - which I gladly gave coz she was amazing!  She was the first performer I saw that day.

Featured Performer #5: The Blackstreet Boys (USA).  With their breakdancing and well-scripted performance, they were pretty funny to watch!  Didn't manage to see their whole performance though.

Featured Performer #6: Anthony Livingspace (Australia).

Again, I didn't manage to catch the whole show, but he wowed the crowd by putting plungers on his body and doing silly belly moves.  And of course, he was funny!

Featured Performer #7: Lee Nelson (Australia)

I caught the second half of his performance - where he had a T-shirt with the word "Wally" on it.  He was supposedly a happy clown who did lots of balancing acts, including balancing a ball on his forehead while leaning backwards.

He did other acts like climbing up a ladder and balancing on it, while juggling and pretending to fly.

And of course, it all ended with donations, which people happily provided.

And that sums up the first day of the Street Arts Festival!  In part 3 I'll focus on lots of Kate Mior, the Space Cowboy and Strictly Dumb Prancing - the performances I saw on the 2nd day of the festival.

Stay tuned!
