Fremantle Street Arts Festival Part 3

Ok here's the last segment of the Fremantle Street Arts Festival - and the longest I guess!  76 pictures!  Well before I filtered the bad pictures out, there were at least 500 pictures I think!

Featured Performer #8: Kate Mior (Canada)

I LOVE KATE MIOR!  She's one of the best street artists I saw during the festival.  She was convincing, animated and of course, funny.  And I loved her pink wig - for it's one of my favourite colours.  She did a great job in acting as a wound-up doll and convincing audiences to give her donations.  And she also did a wonderful job in attempting to "hook up" with random guys along the way.

So here are the many faces of Kate Mior.

Her trademark - the "Call Me!" pose.  She'd beckon and mouth "Call Me!" to random guys, and then she'd whip her smartphone out of her chest and check if there were any calls.  Well - sometimes it seemed as if she got a call...but other times she'd be disappointed.

Here's her reaction when she actually got a "call":

Yep that's her trademark "Call Me!" look.

On my way to the next show I spotted some gorgeous doggies hanging out during the festival!  Including a husky with 2 different eye colours, an adorable white Maltese (or shih tzu?) who kept barking at the bigger dogs (it was seriously hilarious!) and of course, another random happy doggie who "smiled" for the camera.

Featured Performer #9: The Space Cowboy (Australia)

This guy is just phenomenal.  Hailing from Byron Bay (that's what he says!), he came all the way here to provide entertainment for us.  He was so good that I decided to see his act twice.

Apparently he's one of the only trained sword-swallowers in Australia, and he did surgery specially to accomodate the sword into his gut.  It was mind-blowing - the way he did it.  Hope it doesn't gross anyone out!  It sure amazed me but I was a little apprehensive that he might hurt himself.  He kept reiterating that he was a pro though.

And he made us countdown when he let the sword descend down his throat.

His next stunt involved an extremely high unicycle, of which he got people to volunteer to hoist him up.

And once he was up, he decided to act like Cosmo from Singin' in the Rain!  Well he ACTUALLY does remind me of Cosmo from Singin' in the Rain!

Some of his specialities included juggling his hat....

And juggling dangerous objects.  This shot here makes it seem as if the knife was going into his chest, but in actual fact, HE CAUGHT IT A SPLIT SECOND LATER.  He's just amazing.  And his juggling was so well-timed.  He even juggled these objects with a sack over his head - which scared us all shitless.  He pulled it off though!

And of course, the mandatory donations.  I donated! :D

Ran into Kate Mior again along the streets before I went for the final show - Strictly Dumb Prancing.  She "stole" a bottle of cold water from one of the guys, and was drinking happily.  And making silly faces of course.  I actually dropped her a message on Facebook to congratulate her for a successful performance, and gave her one of the pictures I took from the festival.  She loved it!

Also caught Juan from Day 1, who was packing up to leave.  One of his trademark ways to chase people away - throwing water all over us!  I sure got splashed!

Featured Performer #10: Strictly Dumb Prancing (UK)

Hailing all the way from the UK, this duo does lots of hardcore tango moves, which are acrobatic, professional and of course, AMAZING!  When they first started their performance, the female dancer provided studio pictures of herself and her husband/partner...

There was some kind of storyline behind it - where the lady was trying to look for her partner, who was supposedly arrested by her assistant, and then her assistant decided to impersonate her partner and dance with her.  Somehow the partner reappeared - blowing a kiss for us all:

The lady was pretty convinced that everything was fine, so they decided to start their performance, albeit lots of disagreements, such as the male deliberately being rough towards the female, and the female kicking the male such that he fell to the ground.

There were times where they actually AGREED though!

The day ended with the duo asking for donations as usual - with the lady on her partner's shoulders.  She even performed a stunt where she supported her partner with just her arms!  Utterly amazing.

And I guess that's it for the Fremantle Street Arts festival!  I'm not sure if I'd be in Western Australia or Perth next year, as everything is so uncertain right now.  This uncertainty's killing me - seriously - and I really want things to work out.

Anyway more to that later!  See you guys later in the next post!
